COMMON VIOLATION
WEEDS
Weeds and tall grass (over 12” high) are prohibited. All properties should be well maintained.
TRASH
Accumulating trash and debris on property is prohibited. Tree, yard refuse, etc. cut by a contractor and construction waste must be removed by the contractor.
TRASH COLLECTING & PLACEMENT
All residential refuse consisting of garbage, recycling or bulk shall be placed in approved containers and deposited at curbside for collection. Such containers shall not be placed or set out for collection prior to 4:00 PM the day preceding the scheduled collection. No loose material shall be set out for collection. All refuse containers from which the contents have been collected need to be removed from curbside no later than 8:00 AM the day following collection.
Illegal Dumping
If you observe someone illegally dumping trash, debris, landscape or construction material throughout the City, please report this activity 24 hours a day / 7 days a week to (954) 764-HELP (4357) or Crime stoppers Hotline (954) 493-8477. Providing a vehicle tag number, photos and / or video will be helpful in addressing illegal dumping.
HEDGES
Hedges in the rear and side yards are allowed to be a maximum of 8’0” in height. Front yard hedges may be no more than 4’0” in height and if a hedge or shrub is in the swale, it must be no more than 2’0” in height.
TREES
Trees may not be removed without obtaining a tree removal permit approved by the Landscaper Department. Additionally, trees must be pruned to meet the American National Standards if they are pruned. For further information, contact the City Landscaper at 954-480-4206.

RECREATIONAL VEHICLE PARKING
Motor homes, boats, campers and trailers must be stored in the rear or side yard and shall be screened completely from view by a wood or PVC fence or hedge. In some cases, placement in a carport is acceptable. No utility or non-recreational type trailers are permitted on residential property.
INOPERATIVE VEHICLES
Vehicles that are not currently registered, rusted, wrecked, disassembled and inoperative are prohibited.
SWALE OBJECTS
No non-living objects are allowed in the swale area. (This is the portion of property between the property line and the edge of the roadway.) This would include concrete pyramids, rocks, landscape timbers, etc more that 6" in height.
ADDRESS NUMBERING
Your address must be conspicuously posted on the front of the building structure. This will allow Fire and/or the Sheriff’s Office personnel to find your address in an emergency. Building numbers shall have a minimum height of three inches and a maximum height not greater than 10 inches.
ANIMALS
Only domesticated household pets (dogs, cats, parrots, parakeets, canaries, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters and turtles) are allowed. The maximum number of household pets is six, with no more than four of the same species.
BUILDING PERMITS
Building permits are required for ANY new construction, alterations or additions to any existing building. This includes, but is not limited to interior and exterior walls, floors, windows, doors, fences, kitchen cabinets, etc. Any questions concerning building permits may be directed to the Building Department at 954-480-4250.
BUSINESS TAX RECEIPT
Anyone operating a business, or rental property over two units, must first obtain a Business Tax Receipt. Home businesses that have outside activities or inventory are prohibited in residential neighborhoods. Contact the Business Tax Receipt Office for further information at 954-480-4333.
SWIMMING POOLS
All swimming pools must be maintained in a clean, clear and circulating condition. Effective January 1, 2012 all swimming pools, Jacuzzis, hot tubs and spas shall be protected by a screened enclosure or a fence not less than 4 feet high, which shall secure the area in which the pool is located for access except through the dwelling structure located on the property, a screen door, or a fence gate.
COMMERCIAL VEHICLES
Only one commercial vehicle is allowed to be parked on residential zoned property that is less than 9' in height. Review City Ordinance #66-59 for additional guidelines.
PARKING RESTRICTIONS
PARKING ON THE LAWN IS PROHIBITED.
All vehicles must be parked in the driveway or swale area. Parking of any vehicle on a vacant lot is prohibited. Parking across sidewalks is prohibited.
